Infants

Kids `R` Kids  infant program is divided into our "Creepers" classroom - babies 6 weeks to 9 months, and our "Walkers" classroom - babies 7 months to 16 months.  At these early stages of development, the infants are beginning to discover him/herself, caregivers, and the surrounding environment.

Our educational program, which is based on delineating classrooms by developmental stages as well as chronological age, allows us the opportunity to provide more specific tools for the children to advance in their environment.  Our low teacher-to-child ratios allow for more individualized child-to-teacher interaction as well.  We use Creative Curriculum in all of our classrooms, which is a "hands-on" activity based curriculum.  The infants investigate and learn with activity mats, soft books and blocks and tactile sensory toys.  We also use active learning cards in the infant and toddler classrooms which are helpful in bringing the activities to the children whether they are indoors or out, on their tummies, or moving about the classroom.  Our indoor learning area is equipped with soft "cozy" areas that allow the children ample opportunity to strengthen the muscles essential to their physical development.  Our outdoor area is available only to one class at a time and created specifically for and accessible to our infants and toddlers classrooms.  For all of our children, we provide weekly Spanish instruction and live music instrumentation instruction in each of the classrooms.

Our infant-toddler sign language program is known to eliminate frustration for children who have yet to form their verbal vocabulary and introduces age-appropriate language skills for non-verbal communication.  Sign language is taught and used in our infant and toddler classrooms.

Daily reports and quarterly assessments will keep you informed of and involved in your child`s activities and advancements while they are growing and learning at Kids `R` Kids.  We also provide internet viewing access to our parents so that they may watch their children during their day.

The four essential components to the educational program in all of our classrooms are as follows, and our assessments follow these components:

  • language development
  • physical development
  • cognitive development
  • social and emotional development
